I work at Yokes on highway 195. This morning I realized that my service learning assignment was almost due, and I was worried that I was not going to be able to find the time. In the middle of a 10 hour shift, right around 3, I realized that I could easily clean up a portion of the highway. To my realization, this was easier said than done. I went out with a garbage bag and started walking down the side of the highway. Every now and then I would find a can, but I wasn't having much luck.. until I found a storm drain coming from the Qualchan golf course over to my side of the highway. There was a ton of cans (mostly beer) sitting in the bottom of the drain. I used a long branch to pull as much as I could without crawling inside and got a decent amount, but there is still some left that I'm planning to get with some gloves and probably a rake or shovel.
