Had a perfect day on the water. Yesterdays torrential rain set a lot of recyclables free and provided a glorious high tide. Went back to my "spot" and continued working on the plastic and tires that have collected here over the years. Removed 116 recyclables and 2 tires. Still a lot of tires left but not much more plastic. Another wonderful day on the South River. Continued to chip away at the woodsy shoreline that I began cleaning yesterday. Filled 2 bags up with 120 recyclables and removed 4 tires on 2 trips to the site. Today was a great day for me and the river but there is still more to go. Really Great Kayak TEDDY
I got a late start on the tide today and missed my optimum window by an hour. I went to check on the fishing spot I've been cleaning up on previous trips. The area I had previously cleaned was still pristine. I was ecstatic. I also saw some really cool mushrooms. I continued on along the shoreline and hit the jackpot with 113 recyclables and 2 tires. Unfortunately I could only take one tire this trip but I brought the other one closer to where I can easily retrieve it. Sunset high tide was perfect for taking a quick trip on this glorious holiday. As a general rule I try not to be on the water at night but since it was my last day of vacation and had taken yesterday off to see the fireworks I went for it. Went back to see if the fishing spot was staying clean. A whole new bunch of trash was evident. KFC bags and wrappers everywhere. WTF is the matter with people? Cleaned up a huge bag of trash,47 recyclables and a foam cooler. Littered Fishing Spot TEDDY Day #3
Went back to the fishing spot where I started a few weeks ago. The one with the windshield which I Still don't know how to remove without making a mess. Only one new can was observed from an area I had cleaned. Continued picking up what I had missed in the previous 2 excursions. Removed 1 ginormous bag of non recyclable trash and 72 recyclables. Also found a fully sealed Stella Artois which I will be drinking once it gets cold.
