I didn't have time to take the kayak out today so I did this instead. Grabbed 2 trash bags and my garbage picker and drove over by the bridge on my street by the South River sign. Filled up both bags within 1/2 hour. Still a lot more over there. I consider it a preemptive strike since those recyclables will wind up in the river eventually. Been hitting the same spot for the last 2 months. Today I removed the last of the recyclables (50), 2 tires, and a disgusting, huge styrofoam chair. I was severely overloaded on my return trip home. Had a perfect day on the water. Yesterdays torrential rain set a lot of recyclables free and provided a glorious high tide. Went back to my "spot" and continued working on the plastic and tires that have collected here over the years. Removed 116 recyclables and 2 tires. Still a lot of tires left but not much more plastic.
