I started this club because it needed to be done. I wanted to do something impactful for the community. This is my best attempt. Please join me and lets have some fun.

Why start The Theodores and Teddy Tuesdays?
So after looking and applying for numerous jobs in the CDA area I have decided to start my own non-profit. Everyone tells me, "your resume is very impressive" and then after choosing someone else for the position "something will come along." Well I am tired of waiting for something to come along.
Why Teddy?
1. He is simply a bad ass and probably one the most influential conservationists. After going through life and studying a lot I think one of the greatest things that humanity can learn to do is get by with less. To quote a VW magnet "LIVE BELOW YOUR MEANS." Simply put if every person on the planet was consuming materials at the rate of most Americans, humans and the planet will probably not survive. The United States, with less than 5 % of the global population, uses about a quarter of the world’s fossil fuel resources—burning up nearly 25 % of the coal, 26 % of the oil, and 27 % of the world’s natural gas.1 Living in CDA you see gigantic houses that people reside in for two weeks and everybody sees this as success. I think we need to redefine what is success and what is cool. Conservation should be cool. Social Justice and helping humans less fortunate than you should be cool. This club hopes to make that happen in a small way. If you are thinking of joining the club I hope everyone reads The Big Burn by Timothy Egan. It highlights how TR and Pinchot were able to place millions of acres as National Forest for future generations. They did their part to leave the world a better place. We should do ours.
2. I was house sitting for Janet and Greg Torline. They have built a magical house in Turner Bay. Janet is very giving with her time towards conservation and social justice issues. We met while building the Gathering Garden located on North Idaho College's campus. She made me realize I could be much more giving of my time. While house sitting it rained everyday and I felt the money they paid me to watch their place should go to something constructive. I commissioned my brother to make a GREAT image of Teddy to start marketing and promoting the club. The image of Teddy he created I know can make Conservation cool. So now I have a website, great history, a good idea, and a great image to market with.....lets see if we can get this club off the ground and Do what we can, with what we have, in CDA, Idaho.

Projects
Our Projects
We hope to add more projects as the group grows. So far most of our projects are easy. Go for a swim on Tubbs, pick up litter. Go for a hike, pick up litter. There are million things that need to be done. Create an account and start tracking clean-ups individually or with friends. We try to be creative and we are constantly trying to come up with new ideas and projects to help spread our message.
Small Teddy Packages:
You do not need a Teddy Flag to post Teddy Clean-ups. If you would like a small Teddy Pack you can go can click here to go to the shop. Thank you for supporting what we do.

Big Teddy Flag Challenge:
We have made some big Teddy Flags. We send these around to schools and ask teachers and students to participate in our clean-up efforts. Teachers we ask to create lesson plans centered on conservation and environmental education. Students we ask to go out and do Teddy's not only at school but also on their own time. Hopefully asking them to complete individual action helps them feel engaged and aides them in becoming an agent of change. After the clean-ups are completed the class signs the flag and records how much trash they removed. After they get to pick a new school to send the flag to and have the process start all over again. Overall it is a fun challenege to help raise awareness and inspire activism in young people. Here is the Big Teddy Flag Challenge PDF resource for teachers looking to do the challenge. REMINDER: Teachers please email us at teddyrtuesdays@gmail.com with a school name and a contact to be sure the flags will stay in circulation and will not be lost when you pass the flag off!

Flag # 1
1. Post Falls High School - Cleaned 2,000 pounds of trash May 2016. Passed flag to Lake City High School.
The Theodores Badges:
We are working on making the site a bit gameable. We are making it so users can earn different badges. Badges for things like number of clean-ups, cleaning up _x_ amount of trash, etc. We are also looking forward to coming out with a sustainable action badge. The individuals will come up with a sustainable action that they will try and implement in their life for a period of time. The action and time frame will be decieded by the individual. Things like not eating meat, biking to work, not using plastic, really the possibilites are quite open. After completing the challenge we hope people will write one guest blog post about the experience, things they learned, why they chose the undertaking, etc. Maybe it will inspire others to initiate a challenge as well. Changing habits is very difficult but needed. Hopefully this badge can help individuals take the plunge to creating a more sustainble lifestyles.
Here are some of the badges we have ready to go. Just waiting on getting getting the icons/badges made in illustrator. Then we will be off and running.
We would like to have 3 levels in each category. We are working on creating a Gold, Silver, and Bronze badge for the following . . .
Teddy Patrol = # of Teddys
TeddCred Baron = # of TeddCreds
Garbage Warrior = # of lbs collected
Childrens Book -- Lou and the Animals
Finally after lots of hard work and fostering creative juices we have gotten our book titled Lou and the Animals into print. It empowers youth to get involved with the world's trash problem. The book was written by me and my wife and the character is based on my 1st child, Lousia. We hope you enjoy it. You can check it out and buy it here for 10 bucks. If you are a school, library, or want many copies to do programming please contact me directly and we can arrange a discounted price. Money from this book helps us run our programming. Teddy Camp Collective or T.C.C.
5 acres in Plummer, Idaho will be the home base for all things Theodore. The property is one mile from the CDA Tribal Wellness Center. Pool, Sauna, Basketball Court, all at your fingertips. The property is on the Coeur d' Alene reservation. The CDA tribe refers to themselves as Schitsu'umsh, meaning "Those who were found here" or "The discovered people". The property is five miles from Hayburn State Park swimming, boating, beach and all things Lake Coeur d' Alene can offer. Plummer is the start of the Trail of the Coeur d' Alenes a paved 72 mile bike trail to the top of Lookout Pass. The trail takes you through the historic Silver Valley and the reason European Immigrants first settled the Northern Pandhandle.
The Teddy Camp Collective hopes to operate and provide examples of sustainable living. The site will also serve to bring artists, scientists, and forwarding thinking individuals together to collectively build and improve not only the site but the North Idaho community. It undoubtedly will take a lot of work but hopefully many talented people can come together to create a truly unique community in a wonderful part of Idaho.
If you would like to support this community and projects please go to our merchandise page and buy something. All sales go to funding projects that seek to expand the reach of The Theodores. We are in our infancy but with support we can transform and grow quickly. Thank you for supporting our projects and mission.

Create TED FEST
Hopefully the Theodores can work on one day creating an annual Free music festival. Just because it is free does not mean it cannot raise money. We hope to partner with different non-profits each year. Money from the festival can go to putting on a great festival the following year. Additional money will be donated to supporting local organizations doing good with needed revenue. GET DOWN WITH THE KICK DOWN. THERE IS NO NATION LIKE A DONATION. Free Festival you say . . . not possible!?#&! Well we encourage you to check out The Montana Folk Festival We have been and it is amazing. Possible venues for this future free festival. Downtown CDA, Idaho has lots of places that are underutilized in our opinion. Also, Shoshone Park outside of Mullan, Idaho is pretty amazing too. Nothing cool happens unless you think big. Hopefully down the road we can get something like this going!
Imagine the possibilites. Lets work to make them a reality.
Create other chapters
It would be great if people in other cities adopted chapters around Idaho and possibly the country. Why shouldn't Sandpoint, Moscow, Pocatello, and other places in IDAHO have chapters.
Honestly we have not really gotten chapters together or have any idea what this would look like. If you are a creative person and would like to take this on -- email me us your ideas! What do you think a chapter or charter should look like? Anything that spreads the message is greatly appeciated. We really need help fundraising. If you have a solid idea we can get you some flags. Please reach out. We love creative go-getters! teddyrtuesdays@gmail.com
Who knows maybe one day we can have TED Conventions. Why not have chapters in. . .

World Wide Clean-up

The Theodores is a grassroots organization connecting like-minded people around conservation projects and community building.
By simply buying an item with a Teddy screen print you are making a difference. In addition to supporting us financially- which is awesome and allows us to organize clean-ups and conservation education- we ask one additional favor. To be a part of this movement, simply wear your item and do a clean-up. Start small. If you see trash on your favorite walk or hike pick it up, plant your Teddy flag, and post a picture to our Facebook page or website thetheodores.org. It can be done individually or in a large groups.
Theodore Roosevelt was one of the greatest conversationalists of all times, putting 230 million acres of land into federal protection. Most of the National Forest in Idaho was created by Roosevelt. The Theodore’s ultimate goal is to continue Roosevelt’s legacy.
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are”. He said it. We’re hearing the call. By doing what we can, we hope to not only fight the political apathy that has been plaguing our systems and minds, but to keep our wild places truly wild.
Thanks for reading. Now take the next step. Get Teddy Gear, put it on and do a clean-up. Bring a friend and tell them about The Theodores. It starts here and goes everywhere. Theodores unite!
A few videos I have put together. If I can do it so can you!
Send images, or videos and the location of clean-ups to teddyrtuesdays@gmail.com or post them to our facebook page at www.facebook.com/thetheodores, or intragram at https://instagram.com/the_theodores.
